French cinematographer and artist, Maryse Alberti, was this year’s recipient of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory To The Filmmaker Award for her technical elegance, grit, beauty and excellence in her body of work at the 22nd LA Film Festival.  

Honoured with the award at the Women Behind Lens Brunch which was held on the 4^th of June, 2016, Maryse Alberti now joins the list of previous recipients such as filmmaker Lisa Cholodenko and producer Gale Anne Hurd.

One of the most notable female cinematographers in the US, Maryse Alberti was an integral part of M Night Shyamalan’s The Visit followed by Lionsgate’s Freeheld and Ryan Coogler’s Creed, a re-boot of Rocky.  Currently, she is lensing Collateral Beauty, which stars ace actors such as Kate Winslet, Will Smith, Helen Mirren, Edward Norton and Keira Knightley.

“We’re thrilled to shine a light on legendary cinematographer Maryse Alberti and all female Directors of Photography working in film and television,” said Stephanie Allain, director of The LA Film Festival.

The grand event was followed by a panel discussion moderated by cinematographer Patti Lee which included esteemed cinematographers such as Mandy Walker, Tami Reiker, Joan Churchill, Amy Vincent and Maryse Alberti.

Headquartered at ArcLight Culver City, the 2016 LA Film Festival began on the 1^st of June and is currently on until the 9^th, which included about 56 feature films, 58 short films and 13 episodic works of art from around the world. Every year, this festival showcases the brilliance of the new-age cinema, embracing the diversity and the unique perspectives of the filmmakers.  This year, it will end with the showcase of Jonás Cuarón’s Desierto starring Gael García Bernal, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Alondra Hildalgo and Diego Cataño.

With its longstanding legacy of watchmaking traditions, Jaeger-LeCoultre is also committed to paying tributes to filmmakers who have brought about a great innovation to contemporary cinema with its close association with some of the best film festival across the spectrum.
