Porsche invited 11 women to celebrate International Women’s Day with a touch of sport — by getting them to drive a Porsche. As entrepreneur Rupa Pandit said, “This is how Women’s Day should be. Give us some power — none of this treating us delicately. We should be doing something that would be thrilling for everyone and would be a fantastic experience for everyone.” A meticulously planned route took them through the two roads in Mumbai you could drive a Porsche — the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and the Eastern Freeway.

Over talk of overtaking and speeding, the guide, Rayomand Banajee, said, “This entire exercise will last 20 minutes at the speeds that you’re talking.” The two-hour ride, covering the southern half of Mumbai, passed, quite literally, in a haze. The dos and don’ts were quickly forgotten — after all, you can’t take a rulebook along in a Porsche.
