Is India becoming a hub for short films?

After Terribly Tiny Talkies, PVR Director’s Rare brings Chaar Cutting this month – four quirky short films celebrating Indian film making talent.

A little too much skin, losing the wife’s sample blouse on the way to the ladies tailor, an operation that’s hush-hush and a drought hit love story – Pune-based entertainment portal, Jamuura, in association with PVR Director’s Rare, is all set to release Chaar Cutting – an anthology of four award winning short films spanning global and Indian sensibilities with poignant human emotional experiences. Releasing on the 29th of May, Chaar Cutting has already been screened in festivals across the US and Europe, garnering accolades and applause.

Skin Deep

Written by Vikramadiya Motwane and directed by Hardik Mehta, Skin Deep tells the story of how some foreskin can come in the way of consummating a romantic journey. Starring Suleimani Keeda’s Aditi Vasudev and Naveen Kasturia, this quirky short film about love and compromise is as personal as it gets. To circumcise or not to circumcise is the question.

 Blouse

Shyam has to get the perfect blouse stitched for his wife Roopa by the famous Babu tailor. But what happens when Shyam loses the sample blouse and has to perfectly guess his wife’s exact measurements (ahem ahem)? Starring Sumeet Vyas and directed by Vijayeta Kumar, Blouse cleverly highlights the hidden fears of a married man.

Manila Running

Jacques comes to Manila, Philippines, for an operation he does not want to talk about. Anuj Gulati’s Manila Running is an entertaining journey of oddball events that are both hilarious and thought-provoking.

Bawdi

Written and directed by Vivek Soni, Bawdi revolves around the problems of a drought-hit village and the arduous struggle of a young couple to get married. Starring Priyanshu Painyuli, Sonal Joshi and Uday Chandra, Bawdi has been the toast of numerous international and Indian film festivals.
