Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne to star in a new cricket series

A roster of some of the greatest retired cricketers could be returning to the pitch

There’s a rumour that Shane Warne and Sachin Tendulkar are planning a new Twenty20 competition for retired international players. Nothing’s official yet but the word is that certain ‘organisers’ have a list of players in mind which includes Brian Lara, Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis, Ricky Ponting and Anil Kumble among others. The list includes a total of 30 players, all of whom have enjoyed distinguished careers in ODIs and Test Cricket.

The idea is to hold a cricket series across the world over a three-and-a-half-year period, with players the world is dying to see at places where people haven’t been exposed to World-class cricket. This is an exercise that puts cricket on the global map and is slated to include places like the USA, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, UAE etc. That’s not to say that the event wouldn’t be competitive. The smoke emerged when Shane Warne’s tweet in January stated “Sachin & I have an exciting announcement soon”.
