These are the men whose transfers will have a big impact on the English Premier League this season

Memphis Depay

MANCHESTER UNITED,

Netherlands

Dubbed the next Cristiano Ronaldo, Memphis Depay has completed a transfer to Manchester United from PSV Eindhoven. An exceptionally talented winger, Depay scored 22 goals in PSV’s 2014-2015 campaign, becoming not only the club’s top scorer but also the top scorer of the Dutch league. He also made a great impact during the 2014 World Cup for the Netherlands, becoming their youngest ever goal scorer at just 20 years of age and instantly becoming a favourite of the then Netherlands coach and current Manchester United coach, Louis van Gaal, which led him to make the signing for United.

Raheem Sterling

MANCHESTER CITY,

England

The promising 20-year old has completed a £49 million move to Manchester City from Liverpool, making him the most expensive English player of all time. With his blistering pace, Sterling is one of the most talented English players football has ever seen. Due to his great performances over the years, he has been nominated both in 2013 and in 2014 for the PFA Young Player Of The Year award. Sterling scored on his debut for Manchester City just three minutes into the game, and we are sure to see a lot more from him this season.

Morgan Schneiderlin

MANCHESTER UNITED

France

Louis van Gaal signed defensive midfielder Schneiderlin, known for his tackling, energy, intelligence and his ability to read the game, for a fee of 35 million euro. He was a key player for Southampton in the last two seasons. In 2013, Schneiderlin was praised for having the most tackles made in the season, and also for having the highest work rate. He plays in the anchor role, and can orchestrate the flow of the game with his vision and decisive passing. He has also represented France at the national level, but managed to make only one appearance during the 2014 world cup.

Bastian Schweinsteiger

MANCHESTER UNITED,

Germany

The most talked about signing this season, Bastian Schweinsteiger was signed by Manchester United for a fee in the region of 15 million euro from Bayern Munich. The 30-year old German made 500 appearances for Bayern Munich and has ended his 13-year spell there to join his old manager and friend, Louis van Gaal. Schweinsteiger plays as a box-to-box midfielder, but is also suited for a holding role. He controls the tempo of the game and is known for his intelligence on the pitch. Being a hard tackler and a superb playmaker, he is a complete midfielder and is known as the “midfield mastermind”.

Dimitri Payet

WEST HAM UNITED,

France

West Ham signed Payet for an undisclosed fee, rumoured to be in the region of 15 million euro, from Marseille. Payet primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but can also play on either flank. He is blessed with great dribbling technique and is a good passer. He is a great boost for West Ham, and it was surprising to see they were able to attract the likes of him. During the last season, Payet made more successful through balls than any other player in Europe except Lionel Messi. He also made an impressive 17 assists in 36 matches in the season. Payet has represented France at the national level as well.

Petr Cech

ARSENAL

Czech Republic

Cech signed for Arsenal from Chelsea for a fee of about 10 million euro. He was made second-choice keeper by Jose Mourinho in the 2014-15 campaign due to Thibaut Courtois’ great form, which made him request a transfer. Cech is considered one of the best goalkeepers of this generation, and he kept a club record of 220 clean sheets for Chelsea, with whom he has won the Premier League, FA Cup and the Champions League. Cech is the second most capped player ever for his national side, with 114 appearances, and seems sure to be Arsene Wenger’s first-choice goalkeeper this year.
