Amitabh Bachchan is back
Amitabh Bachchan is back

R. Balki’s Shamitabh has got it all – style, drama and Amitabh’s dialoguebaazi. We approve.

The man has been on a big screen hiatus for some time now. And after his TV debut flopped miserably, we’re sure he’s dying to score a big one on his home turf. And from the look of it, Shamitabh is going to be all about Big B.

My name is Anthony Gonsalvez

Bachchan plays a fading star with a drinking problem in the film. The film’s trailer ends with him, drunk, talking to a tree – “Scotch…main. Paani…woh. Mixing. Hai koi paani, joh chadti hai whiskey ke bina?” The scene reminds us of that moment from Amar Akbar Anthony when Bachchan’s character talks to his reflection in the mirror. From the look of it, Bachchan is getting his share of crackling dialogues and herogiri in the film.

Dhanush’s second chance

While we loved Dhanush in Raanjhanaa, the film tanked horribly at the box office. Hopefully he will get lucky this time as a struggling actor-turned-superstar (who’s deaf and mute? Just guessing). Also, he surely has better co-stars in this film.

New girl in town

After watching Shruti Hassan’s last film, Ramaiya Vastavaiya, everyone wondered how someone with such talented parents can fall so far away from the family tree. Her younger sister, Akshara, debuts in Shamitabh and the girl’s got spunk. Young, stylish and a little bit of a biker chick, here’s hoping that Baby Hassan makes a fantastic Bollywood debut.
