Kohli is making headlines again, and this time, it is not for his girlfriend or centuries or his fashion brand (with that weird name) – Virat Kohli is getting all the attention for his new haircut.
Getting a haircut before a major series or tournament is not a new thing in sports. The trend started with David Beckham back in 2000. It was recently revealed that, Alex Ferguson, former Manchester United manager, made Beckham shave off his Mohawk in the toilets of the Wembley stadium right before their Charity Shield clash with Chelsea. Beckham said, “I was in the dressing room with an hour to go before kick off when Sir Alex Ferguson saw it and made me shave it off. I said no at first and then I saw his face change very quickly so I went and shaved it off in the toilet. He was very strict. It was the reputation of the club; he wanted all the players to look professional.”
Thankfully, Indian players were not asked to chop their trendy manes off. Kohli’s new haircut, which is apparently inspired by Christiano Ronaldo, has encouraged other players to do the same. It was reported that after Kohli, Suresh Raina got the same haircut done. And Dhawal Kulkarni and Ajinkya Rahane have also booked appointments with hairstylists. We know a Mohawk fever when we see one.
