Lack
of money can be productive. When there are not enough
resources the creative souls actually start searching
for ways to actually get their creativity out. When
I started photography as a career everybody in the
business advised me against it; the recession had
set in, they said. But that’s where I saw
an opportunity.
It’s all about team work. Anything you produce
is more a reflection of the energies that all of
us are. My style of work allows me to interact with
a lot of talent around me. It comes through make-up
artists, the body languages of models,
and designers and stylists.
Nothing or no one is perfect. I don’t think
there is any such thing as a definitive image. When
I look at my work, there is very little that I find
timeless. You train your mind to shoot a perfect
picture every time but I don’t think that
exists.
Respect is a given. I think the most basic thing
about any profession is that you should maintain
a certain level of respect for those working with
you.
You can’t always have it your way. I don’t
think you can stay true to your creative beliefs
all the time. You try to push the envelope as much
as you can but then, a lot of times you have to
give in. It’s a job after all.
Be true to yourself. Don’t cheat with your
own work. Don’t ask anyone’s opinion
on your work. You are the best judge and if you
are honest with yourself you will get all the answers.
