| So
what makes a man stylish? Is it what he wears, the
way he dresses, or is it the way he lives his life,
his interests and his idiosyncrasies? We would think
the latter. The 50 best-dressed men list showcases
India’s most stylish guys, from a quintessential
gentleman like Navin Ansal to rockstar Saif Ali
Khan, a rugged and earthy Apoorva Lakhia to an eclectic
dresser like Farhan Akhtar. Compare the classic
cool of Jyotiraditya Scindia or a seriously fashionable
Narendra Kumar Ahmed to a grungy Kunal Kapoor, an
underplayed Mohit Gujral or a flamboyant Aqueel
Ali.
The good news is that the pretty boy, clad in pink,
has metamorphosed into a rugged, earthy avatar.
Think businessman and playboy (or should we say
former?) Vikram Chatwal. Or imagine Neil Nitin Mukesh
in his rolled-up sleeves and waistcoat. The look
is global and the deluge of big brands into India
offers a never-ending spectrum of clothes and looks
to choose from. But what sets the men on our list
apart is
their refusal to be fashion victims or trend watchers.
They were chosen from a poll of 100 or so fashion
aficionados from across India. The list includes
Raghavendra Rathore, Arjun Khanna, Prasad Bidappa,
Neha Kapur, Kunal Rawal, Rohit Gandhi, Rahul Khanna,
Sanjay Kapoor, Manish Arora, Ranna Gill, Priyadarshini
Rao, David Abraham, Aki Narula, Manoviraj Khosla,
Anshu Arora Sen, Lubna Adams, Malaika Arora Khan,
Milind Soman, Prahlad Kakkar, Rohit Bal, Sushma
Puri, Manish Malhotra, Narendra Kumar Ahmed, Queenie
Dhody, Rita Dhody, Atul Kasbekar, Sabina Chopra,
Sheetal Mallar, Wendell Rodricks, Marc Robinson,
Bandana Tewari, Anaita Shroff Adajania, Subi Samuel,
Rukhsana Eisa, Pradeep Hirani, Deepti Gujral, Ritu
Kumar, Malini Ramani, Salim Asgarally, Sabina Singh,
Pooja Bedi and the editors of Man’s World.
The result is an eclectic mix that represent different
aspects of men’s fashion.

missed on the ramp. - Read

SAIF
ALI KHAN
The pink ganjis (which he wore in Salaam Namaste)
have been replaced by Ed Hardy T-shirts, the
Kareena tattoo etched out in Devnagri script
on his forearm, bandanas, distressed jeans and
a bit of bling, a reflection, perhaps, of his
association with the rock band Parikrama. -

RONIT
ROY
Actor Ronit Roy feels that the small screen
helped him create a public image of a well-dressed
man. While the suave Rishabh Bajaj of Kasauti
Zindagi Kay is dapper and well-polished in business
suits, Mihir Virani of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi
Bahu Thi has aged gracefully, moving on to ethnic
kurtas. - Read

SUNIL
PADWAL
His long, straight locks have given way to a
shorter, mini-Mohawk. Sunil Padwal looks more
like a pop singer than an artist. It is a wonder
how he does it without a stylist. While his
canvas boasts of stark, geometric strokes, Padwal
derives his trendy avatar by mixing brands and
trends well and adding a touch of grunge and
rock chic. - Read

SHANTANU
MUKHERJEE
His voice isn’t the only thing that one
notices about singer Shantanu Mukherjee aka
Shaan. With a personal style that often borders
on minimalism, nothing about Shaan is loud and
obvious. With a penchant for light pastels,
he is all about relaxed, laidback comfort in
his drawstring pants, loose tunics and sandals.
