The
pink ganjis (which he wore in Salaam Namaste)
have been replaced by Ed Hardy T-shirts, the Kareena
tattoo etched out in Devnagri script on his forearm,
bandanas, distressed jeans and a bit of bling, a
reflection, perhaps, of his association with the
rock band Parikrama. Vishal Bhardwaj’s Omkara
offered the actor an opportunity to experiment with
a bearded, almost dishevelled look. On formal occasions
though, Khan sticks to a sharp suit, a regally cut
achkan or a black sherwani, like the one he wore
for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya premiere.
Designer Arjun Khanna says, “Saif’s
style is his own and it’s not an acquired
taste. He knows how to carry off blue jeans with
a white shirt, but he also wears his suits very
well. His grungy tees make quite a style statement.”
His wardrobe includes a range of international brands
like Boss Hugo Boss, Giorgio Armani, his current
favourite Ed Hardy and, of course, loads of achkans
that are hand-stitched by the family tailor his
father, the dapper former cricketer, Mansoor Ali
Khan Pataudi, has been going to.
