Project
IGI 2: Covert Strike: Former SAS veteran
and protagonist of the original Project IGI, David Jones
is back. As usual, he is freelancing for the top secret
IGI organisation which combats terrorism around the
world. As a covert operative, you have to slug it out
with fundamentalist zealots and ferocious drug cartels
that take you to three different campaigns set in Libya,
Russia and China. As you globetrot, you have to infiltrate
a series of hostile bases that IGI reckons is hiding
terrorists. You will have to bank more on stealth and
brains in the form of computer-hacking skills for disabling
alarms, security cameras, et al. The baddies you are
going to tackle are on eternal alert mode and if the
enemy gets a whiff of danger, you better make your last
will and testament. Now you know why stealth and a steady
trigger aimed for the head is usually the best solution
out here. (Hint: not always). Enemy soldiers of different
ranks have their own personalities and act in different
ways. Some will prefer to call for backup, while others
will investigate on their own. A welcome feature in
IGI 2 is the in-game save mission option. Trust me,
you'll need that one. The high-resolution textures render
game levels beautiful even at a basic resolution of
640 x 480 pixels. The sound-effects are reasonably good,
though you'd better have nothing less than a Creative
Audigy sound card to experience these effects to the
max. Distributed by Milestone Interactive as a direct
import, IGI 2: Covert Strike is priced at Rs 1,299.
