Last
year Bill Gates prophesied that MP3 phones would soon
replace the much loved iPod. We don't know when Mr Gates'
prediction will come true but MP3 phones are surely
popping up everywhere - with dedicated music control
keys, larger storage and better audio playback than
their predecessors. In fact, Sony Ericsson is so bullish
on this market that it has a full range of 'Walkman'
branded phones. So if you want to take your music with
you and don't own an iPod yet, here's a list of MP3
phones that will do the trick.

SONY
ERICSSON W810I
The best in Sony's Walkman line-up, the W810i has

messaging, a speakerphone, Bluetooth and an infrared
port, 20MB of internal memory, and e-mail support.
The W810i comes with a 512MB Memory Stick Pro Duo,
which can store about 150 music tracks. If you want
more tunes, you can take your W810i to a Sony retail
store for an upgrade to a 4GB. A handy Play Now

NOKIA
N91
Nokia's N91 is a music lover's dream. This attractive
candy-bar style phone can hold more than a handful
of tunes - it has an integrated 4GB hard disk, which
is good for about 1,000 high quality songs. The
N91 has a sleek stainless steel exterior, an industry
standard 3.5mm stereo jack (so you can use your
good earphones), and dedicated music keys. It's
also got a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, WiFi,
USB 2.0, music recorder and supports MP3, M4A, AAC
and WMA song formats. Also present are dedicated
volume controls, an 8-band equalizer and the ability
to download music over the air, or alternatively
record it directly through a line-in connector or
from the built-in stereo FM radio of the handset.

LG
P7200
This RAZR-lookalike from LG includes a 2.0 megapixel
camera with flash, a 262k TFT LCD internal display,
65k external display, Bluetooth, Infrared, micro-SD
memory slot and 64 MB of built-in memory. No 3.5mm
earphone jack means you've got to use the bundled
headphones. There's a remote control so users can
easily control music playback functions and pick
up calls without having to take the phone out of
the pocket or bag. We love the dedicated external
music keys - very important for a music phone. And
we were pleasantly surprised to find a customizable
equalizer built-in.

NOKIA
3250
We have always loved Nokia for its innovative designs.
And Nokia 3250 won't disappoint you on this front.
Available in four colours (black, green, pink and
silver), the triband handset features an interesting
twist-action design -its lower half twists from
standard keypad (for phone calls) to a right angle
(for camera action) and all the way round (for dedicated
music player keys). The interface is simple, the
3250 lets users drag-and-drop songs into the handset
using the Nokia Audio Manager software. Other features
include a 2-megapixel camera with 4x zoom, microSD
memory card slot, USB 2.0 support and Bluetooth
connectivity. The only hitch? No standard 3.5mm
jack - you have to listen through Nokia's bundled
hands-free.
