Sarah Gonsalves' Fashion Dos and Don'ts For Men
Sarah Gonsalves’ Fashion Dos and Don’ts For Men

Sarah Gonsalves is the co-founder of SS Homme, who talks about styling and the importance of comfort and ease in whatever you choose to wear.

Sarah Gonsalves is the co-founder of SS Homme, a luxury brand that offers complete  bespoke services  for menswear. She is a London College of Fashion graduate who began creating menswear for her family and friends before launching her very own label, SS Homme, in the year 2010. Here is her take men’s fashion, styling and the importance of comfort and ease in whatever you choose to wear.

  • My most sacred rule: stay true to your own aesthetics and carry yourself with confidence.
  •

  • I believe in owning unique garments and accessories, or an eclectic mix of pieces.
  •

  • Avoid extremely slim-fitted trousers. Go for a fit that is easy to move around in.
  •

  • Loafers look hideous when paired with formal suits, and shoes can make or break your attire.
  •

  • Include patent leather penny loafers and tan leather brogues in your shoe wardrobe.
  •

  • Over-accessorising is a big no. Keep it smart and simple, but accessorise well — choose either a classic cufflink, pocket square or a lapel pin or a tie, depending on what you wear.
  •

  • To dress casually and yet look dapper, opt for a checked blazer (windowpane, glen or microcheck).
  •

  • A crisp solid suit — either dark navy or charcoal grey — is perfect for an important dinner or a dinner date.
  •

  • A classic white shirt, a pair of formal black trousers (wellfitted, of course) and tan leather brogues – ensure your wardrobe includes these essentials. And a lint roller, too.
  •

  • Ranveer Singh is constantly pushing the boundaries with his unique and fashion forward styling. He is always at ease in what he wears. That’s of utmost importance; everything else is secondary.
  •

  • Among the men I consider stylish are Jude Law and Lionel Messi. From the younger lot, I’d like to mention the upcoming tennis sensation, Milos Raonic.
