If you think the days of rugged, armour-clad laptops is gone, only to be replaced by slim, delicate tabs which shall accompany you to distant, volatile corners of the earth, think again. Panasonic has released a new laptop, suggestively called the ‘Toughbook’ so that its purpose is self-explanatory.
The Toughbook CF-54 has been dubbed ‘semi-rugged’ by its makers. That said, its tough exterior extends its portability to extensive field work while being slim enough not to be clunky and impractical for everyday use (it’s shock resistant for up to 2.5 feet). It’s equipped with a 2.5 Ghz, Intel Core i5 processor with 4GB of RAM. It’s got a spill resistant keyboard with 11 hours of battery back up with a hot swap feature which allows you to switch batteries without shutting down the computer.
