Shocking: Motorola is giving you superhero powers
Shocking: Motorola is giving you superhero powers

With a path breaking innovation, Motorola is making your body the password for your devices

Too confused with too many passwords? Not anymore. Motorola has unveiled the Edible Password Pill. What’s that all about? Imagine popping a pill every morning that gives you the ability to unlock all your digital devices without a password but just by touching them. Yes, you read that right. You are the password.

So how does this magic pill work? Swallowed once daily, the pill consists of a tiny chip that uses the acid in your stomach to power it. Once it is activated, the pill emits a specific 18-bit EKG-like signal that can be detected by your mobile devices and computer, essentially turning your body into a password.

According to an article in www.entrepreneur.com, Regina Dugan, former director of the U.S. Department of Defense’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and present senior vice president of Motorola’s special projects team, is an outspoken champion of the pill. At an event last year, Dugan said that once the tablet is swallowed, it basically turns you into a cyborg. “It means that my arms are like wires, my hands are like alligator clips — when I touch my phone, my computer, my door, my car, I’m authenticated in. It’s my first super power. I want that.”

If this won’t make tech junkies and geeks wet with excitement, I don’t know what will. There are a few questions though. Will the pill be available to the masses? If so, when? What are the security issues involved? How safe is it? Are there any dietary requirements? And – most importantly – till when does the pill stay in the system and what happens if it is, well, pooped out?
