The company also announced the launch of M Studio, for its M line of performance cars
BMW hasn’t had the best of times in India of late, with arch rivals Audi and Mercedes-Benz leapfrogging it to the top of the sales charts. Mercedes’ AMG line of high performance cars has been doing very well, in particular, and it’s possibly to keep itself competitive in this segment that BMW has announced the launch of M Studio, in Mumbai. This is a separate space from ‘standard’ BMW showrooms, and will exclusively sell the company’s M line of cars – the M3, M4, M5, M6 and the soon to be launched X5M and X6M. These cars are base model BMWs, which are stuffed with enormously powerful engines and highly tuned suspensions, and they also have much more aggressive styling cues. The refreshed M6 Gran Coupe is priced at Rs 1.71 crore, ex-Mumbai, and it has a few cosmetic upgrades over the older car; it will be sold with its stablemates at the M Studio in Mumbai and a further seven M Studios around the country by the end of 2016.
