Ciaz who?
Ciaz who?

Priced like a Honda City, sized like a Honda Civic – the Ciaz is here

If you’re in the market for a mid-segment family sedan, but are dissatisfied with the amount of room these cars typically offer, you’re not alone – who wouldn’t want more space for the same money?

Maruti Suzuki has been quietly listening, and its newest entrant in the game is this, the somewhat puzzlingly named Ciaz. Launched just a while ago, with a price tag ranging from Rs 6.99 lakh to Rs 9.8 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, the Ciaz principally takes on the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento, and the big advantage it has is the fact that it’s a larger car than the rest – think extra room all round.

The Ciaz is a pleasant looking car, with styling cues from the Swift and the Kizashi, and it should stand apart from the crowd once it’s on the road. Its cabin is very well loaded, with a clean, uncluttered layout, a pleasing two-tone colour scheme and lots of features, like automatic climate control, keyless start and a reversing camera, among others. Two engines are on offer – a smooth 1.4-litre petrol (also found in the Ertiga) and a torquey 1.3-litre diesel (found in several other Maruti products), and either car should be a breeze to drive.
