Honda launches the CBR 650F in India

Honda’s latest middleweight contender is priced at Rs 7.3 lakh

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Limited have just launched the highly coveted CBR 650F for Rs 7.3 lakh (Ex-Mumbai). The bike fills Honda’s vast power gap which lies between the CBR 250 and the superpowered CBR1000RR. The CBR 650F is powered by an in-line four, 649cc, DOHC engine that produces 85.8 bhp with 6.4 kgm of peak torque.

The presence of the letter F denotes that this bike isn’t tailored for track use. It’s important that the bike not be mistaken for the CBR 600R – Honda’s harcore supersport. The CBR 650F on the other hand is a more road-friendly tourer with a set of clip-on handlebars aiming for a less extreme seating position. The bike will be assembled locally at Honda’s assembly line in Manesar, Gurgaon.

Honda also showcased their latest 160cc contender – the Hornet 160cc. The famed ‘Hornet’ tag, previously encompassed Honda bikes ranging between 250cc-900cc, however, given Honda’s less than spectacular run in that segment, they’ve decided to have it replace the ‘Trigger’ label. No changes, mechanical or cosmetic have been made to the CBR 150 and 250, save for a few new decals that have been slapped on the bikes’ fairing.
