Jaguar Land Rover India launched the much awaited Discovery Sport with a starting price of Rs 46.10 lakh (Ex-showroom, Mumbai). The Discovery Sport replaces the Freelander 2 all over the world, while being locally manufactured in Pune for the Indian market.

The car gets Land Rover’s trademark Terrain Response System which uses a small knob in the centre of the front seats to prepare the car’s drivetrain for varying kinds of terrain. The new terrain system also includes a Dynamic mode which allows the car to corner flatly. The higher end variants of the car also get an additional third row of foldable seats while packing the same 2.2 L TD4 diesel engine across all four variants. The top end HSE luxury variant will cost you Rs 62.18 lakh and will feature tan/ebony themed interiors while packing a good deal more horsepower (187) over the standard 147 bhp thanks to the SD4 engine option.

Unlike the off-road capable Range Rover Evoque, the Discovery Sport is a larger, more rugged option tailored to people and families that venture out of town very often. It’s also Land Rover’s entry level luxury SUV in the market. Land Rover has also offered a 3 year warranty pack which also includes three years of service.
