Here’s a little piece of trivia for you. During the first edition of India Bike Week (IBW), the annual festival of all things biking, roughly 600 Harley-Davidsons showed up, ridden in to Goa from various parts of India. This year, just over 2000 Harleys made the trip – you do the math. It’s possible that even Harley-Davidson didn’t expect their iconic bikes to catch on in such a big way in the country, and after five years of selling the dream of freedom, the open road and everything else associated with that lifestyle, it decided to celebrate. The various H.O.G (Harley Owners Group) chapters throughout the country rode to Goa for the party (I rode down with them too, from Mumbai), and it was a fine way to kick off IBW.
