Andy Samberg is currently busy in the process of rethinking Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s direction when it comes to how they handle the show’s core subject.
Actor Terry Crews, who plays Sergeant Terry Jeffords on the show, had earlier revealed that the writers had to “start over” with season 8. Now, Andy Samberg has come forward and added that they are carefully “rethinking” how to move forward with the show.
“We’re taking a step back, and the writers are all rethinking how we’re going to move forward, as well as the cast,” Samberg, who plays Jake Peralta, told People. “We’re all in touch and kind of discussing how you make a comedy show about police right now, and if we can find a way of doing that that we all feel morally okay about.”
The beloved New York police comedy has always been praised for its awareness and in the past, and the show plans to keep that going. But with the recent protests against the police all over America, the show will need to undoubtedly change its direction morally in this sensitive period of time.
