Arjun Rampal is one of those few original supermodels of India who has made a successful transition to the field of acting. His performances in films like Rock On!! and Daddy have been celebrated. Now, the actor who is currently shooting for Dhakkad opposite Kangana Ranaut has signed a new project which revolves around rape.
The project is titled The Rapist and will also star celebrated actress Konkona Sensharma. This is the second time that Arjun Rampal and Konkona Sensharma will be coming together on-screen post their 2013 independent anthology film Meridian Lines.

Illustrious actress and filmmaker, Aparna Sen will be directing the film starring Konkona and Arjun Rampal which will be produced by Applause Entertainment.
“The Rapist is a hard-hitting drama that examines how much of society is responsible for producing rapists. It’s about the victim’s trauma, the circumstances, and how a woman deals with it. The pre-production has already started and will get off the ground officially in March,” a source told DNA.
Aparna Sen is known to take up socio-political issues and deal with them in a sensible and non-preachy manner. Her earlier films like 36 Chowringhee Lane, Paroma, Mr and Mrs Iyer have all been critically acclaimed and are required viewing for any actor or filmmaker hoping to perfect their craft.
“Women never came forward to denounce their rapists because they knew it would be useless and it would be they who would be held responsible anyway. Often they would not speak up for fear of breaking up the family. Today, the situation has changed radically. There are strong laws in workplaces where sexual abuse is taken very seriously and strong action is taken against the perpetrators. Women are much more ready to come forward and denounce their rapists today,” Aparna Sen told DNA.
