He loves his coffee a lot like he does his women
The lead vocalist and bass guitarist of the four-member electro-pop band ‘Best Kept Secret’ is more than just a pretty face. He works hard to get up on stage and look top dollar—whether it’s by keeping his vocal cords at peak performance level or maintaining a disciplined grooming routine. He tells us how he does it all.
How do you start your mornings?
Behram Siganporia: With a cup of green tea, which is usually accompanied by turmeric and a spoon of honey on the side. Following this, I grab a bite to eat based on my tour schedule. But usually, I start my day with something warm before getting started with vocal warm-ups.
What’s sitting on your bathroom shelf?
BS: Dental care, shower gel, sunscreen, moisturiser, and hair serum. My shaving kit and beard trimmer go with me everywhere.
Your day and night fragrances
BS: Day fragrances: Yves Saint Laurent Y Eau De Parfum Spray and Acqua Di Gio Eau De Toilette by Giorgio Armani.Night Fragrances: Gucci Guilty Black Pour Homme, Tom Ford Oud Wood Eau De Parfum, and Most Wanted by Azzaro.
How do you like your coffee?
BS: I like my coffee like I like my women…very hot and very bold. And of course, ready in 5 minutes. Just kidding. If I had to drink a coffee, it would be a hazelnut–flavoured Americano.
What does breakfast look like?
BS: Eggs. All day, every day. And maybe a slice of bread and fruit on the side.
News portals you check out in the morning
BS: I follow many sports, so my first source of news has to be something related to it.. Followed by the stock markets. I think the rest of the news is just depressing so I don’t bother diving too deep into world affairs.
What’s your workout routine like?
BS: We do around 75 shows a year—performing on stage and jumping with the crowd itself is a great workout. Especially, when you use a heavy guitar. In the gym, I opt for HIIT and circuit training and it helps improve my stamina, breathing and makes me perform better. I enjoy weight training as well.
Morning music
BS: Retro. Acoustic. Easy listening. As a little boy, I was woken up for school with ABBA, Boney M, and Elvis blasting in my house. And even now if I have to start my day with music, songs by these artists will instantly put a spring in my step and a song on my lips.
Three things we’ll always find on your nightstand
BS: A motivational quote which says, ‘You should be working’, my mobile phone charger and certain things, which are a ‘Best Kept Secret’.
Grooming essentials you swear by.
BS: I start with brushing my teeth and a face wash followed by a night cream. A recent product that I discovered was a skin serum from Wellbeing Nutrition, which was gifted to me by a designer friend. I’ve started applying a few drops of that on my face before going to bed.
Your biggest guilty purchase of the year?
BS: I already own a lot of guitars, but I just ordered a signature series Fender American Jazz Bass Guitar in Black and Gold. The guitar is so beautiful I might just stare at it rather than use it on stage. My other weakness is cars, and I will definitely be guilty of purchasing another one next year.
A celebrity whose style you like?
BS: I really like the way David Beckham dresses. He’s been an idol for me, and I’ve admired him since I was a little boy. I think his sense of style is immaculate.
Q15. Clothing brands you favour?
BS: For travel and athleisure, I always pick Puma. For Indian/formal wear, it would be Shantnu & Nikhil. On-stage, for red carpet appearances and award nights, I usually go with The Collective. They have some of my favourite brands such as Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, Kenzo and Versace all under one roof. They are also my go-to brand for date nights.
