According to Lav Aggarwal, the Joint Secretary of Health and Family Welfare said on Tuesday that India has 602 dedicated COVID-19 hospitals having 1,06,719 isolation beds and 12,024 ICU beds across the country.
Post PM Modi’s announcement that the nationwide lockdown would be extended to May 3rd, a large group of migrant labourers gathered in Bandra, demanding for permission to return to their native states. They later dispersed after police and local leaders intervened and asked them to vacate, reports ANI.
In the last 24 hours itself, at least 1,463 fresh coronavirus cases and 29 new deaths have been reported in the country. This takes the total number of COVID-19 cases to 10,815 in India and 353 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Globally, according to Johns Hopkins University data, 120,871 people have died from COVID-19 and confirmed infections have reached 1,938,863.
