Oh Elon, when will you learn?
Elon Musk may not have bought Twitter (yet), but that doesn’t mean he is going to shy away from riling up its user base. In yet another controversial tweet, the billionaire recently conducted a poll on his account, asking Twitter users to weigh in on his ideas to end the ongoing Russia and Ukraine conflict.
The 51-year-old suggested that United Nations conduct elections in the four Russian-occupied regions of Ukraine. He also suggested that Crimea should officially be a part of Russia, further adding that Ukraine remained neutral on the matter. As you can expect, people were not happy with the tweet, leading to an online furor of sorts.
This led to Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky conducting his pole, asking which Elon Musk do you like more? The one who supports Ukraine or the one who supports Russia?
Ukrainian presidential aide Mykhaylo Podolyak chimed in on the matter, suggesting a “better peace plane” which involved Ukraine taking back control of its territories, es, including Crimea which Moscow annexed in 2014.
Ukraine’s ambassador, Andriy Melnyk had a much less diplomatic response in return, and tweeted:
Other European leaders like Lithuania’s president, Gitanas Nausėda, also voiced their opinion against the Billionaire, saying “Dear @elonmusk, when someone tries to steal the wheels of your Tesla, it doesn’t make them the legal owner of the car or the wheels. Even though they claim both voted in favor of it. Just saying.”
Back in February, Musk had responded to a tweet by an Ukranian government official seeking help, by claiming that SpaceX’s Starlink satellite broadband service was available in the war-torn country. As per reports, the service is currently used by 150,000 citizens there.
As far as the rest of the internet is concerned, here’s how it reacted.
