Due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus which has claimed countless lives and debilitated an already staggering economy, businesses around the world had had to shut shop. Naturally, film and television shootings had to be canceled in mid-March but things may finally be looking up.
According to Filmfare, the Maharashtra government has recently permitted the resumption of shoots for television serials, films, advertisements, and web shows. This comes amidst appeals by members of the film industry who had reportedly called on Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray last week.
Now, the Cultural Affairs Ministry has issued a government resolution stating that producers will have to conduct pre-production and post-production works but only after adhering to the guidelines laid down by the government. It goes without saying that social distancing norms need to be followed strictly and there has to be an immense focus on personal hygiene.
The entertainment website also reports that those intending to resume shootings will be required to submit their applications to the Maharashtra Films, Theatre and Cultural Development Corporation at the Dadasaheb Phalke Film City, Goregaon or send them across to the concerned district collectorates across the state.
