Instagram has announced that now direct messages can be accessed through web browsers. According to The Verge, Instagram has been testing web DMs with a small group of users since January. Since that test started, the social media platform has made small updates to the DMs on the app, like the emoji keyboard and adding a gallery view to photos and videos.
When you arrive on Instagram’s desktop site, users can see the Direct Message icon in the top-right position same as the app. Once clicked, all direct message conversations can be viewed on the left side of the screen. DMs can also be sent directly through someone’s profile by tapping the Message icon.
Recently, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg told The New York Times that “private messaging, groups, and Stories” were the “three fastest-growing areas of online communication”.
