Issey Miyake has announced the end of Issey Mikaye Men.
The line was started back in 1976 when the Japanese brand was first launched and debuted at Paris Men’s fashion week for Fall/Winter ’85. The company stated that the decision had been made prior to coronavirus pandemic and that the shutting down of the line to new possibilities in Miyake menswear.
In January 2020, six-year creative director Yusuke Takahashi departed from the menswear line leaving the design team to take over the last Fall/Winter ’20 collection. Despite the end of the line, the brand will continue the popular Homme Plisse Issey Mikaye’s menswear collection.
