That’s a striking headline, isn’t it? But it’s a Kanye West story so why are we surprised?
Mr West started his week off by shooting tweets directed at Drake, demanding an immediate apology from him and J Cole. The tweets were quickly deleted, but West came back with another Drake tweet on Tuesday. This time, asking to be in the same room as him along with Cole and Kendrick Lamar.
“We need Me J Cole Drake Kendrick all in a room 2gthr … it’s time to get free… we will not argue amongst each other while somebody we don’t know in Europe is getting paid and putting that money in a hedge fund,” he tweeted.
This sense of unity arose after West spent his Monday targeting big labels, and the way they function. West even shared a screenshot with someone who looks to be his lawyer, where the option of a lawsuit is floated.
He also demanded that he wants to review everyone’s contract at Universal and Sony, while calling the music industry and the NBA “modern day slave ships” and labeling himself the “new Moses.”
West also said that he has “the utmost respect for all brothers” and continued, “we need to link and respect each other… no more dissing each other on labels we don’t own.”
Clearly, Kanye West is not happy with his label and his contract. From the looks of it, he’s even willing to take legal action against his label if they don’t agree to his terms. We’ll just have to wait and see if Universal or Sony respond to West, and of course, keep refreshing Twitter for any new Kanye tweets.
