Lewis Hamiton's Silverstone Triumph Shatters Records

Age is the just a number for Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton has clinched his ninth British Grand Prix victory at Silverstone, breaking the record for most wins at a single event. In a thrilling race, Hamilton held off Lando Norris to claim victory, with Mercedes and McLaren drivers battling it out amid changing weather conditions. The victory marks Hamilton's first win in 945 days and solidifies his dominance at the iconic race track.

Hamilton overtook pole position from his Mercedes team-mate George Russell on Lap 18, when the Silverstone was graced with light rain. Russell couldn't complete his race, due to a water pressure system fault. The seven-time F1 champion proved he's still got it in him before he joins Ferrari in 2025, making this his last appearance at Silverstone as F1 driver. It was his 12th successive podium finish at Silverstone

"Yeah, I can't stop crying," Hamilton said after winning the race.  "It's been since 2021, I just every day, getting up, trying to fight, to train, to put my mind to the task, and work as hard as I can with this amazing team. And this is my last race here at the British Grand Prix with this team.

Hamilton Breaks Schumacher's Record

Hamilton has broken Michael Schumacher's long-standing record for the most wins on a single track in Formula One history. This was his ninth win at Silverstone. Schumacher, a seven-time world champion, had previously held the record with eight wins at the French Grand Prix, while Aryton Senna had six wins at the Monaco Grand Prix. Hamilton's last F1 triumph came at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in 2021.

With this victory, Hamilton now has 104 career wins in the sport. Additionally, Hamilton has surpassed Kimi Raikkonen as the oldest driver to win a Formula 1 race in the 21st century, achieving the milestone at 39 years and six months old during his Silverstone win. Raikkonen was 39 years and four days old when he won the USA Grand Prix in 2018.
