Netflix has taken the decision of scraping comedian Chris D’Elia’s prank show after allegations of him soliciting underage women surfaced online.

According to a Deadline report, D’Elia was in the final stages of finalising the Netflix show, featuring himself and his best friend and fellow comedian Bryan Callen. D’Elia has since strongly denied the claims in a statement, claiming that all of his relationships “have been both legal and consensual.”

“I know I have said and done things that might have offended people during my career, but I have never knowingly pursued any underage women at any point,” D’Elia said in response to the allegations. “All of my relationships have been both legal and consensual and I have never met or exchanged any inappropriate photos with the people who have tweeted about me. That being said, I really am truly sorry. I was a dumb guy who ABSOLUTELY let myself get caught up in my lifestyle. That’s MY fault. I own it. I’ve been reflecting on this for some time now and I promise I will continue to do better.”

Despite the show being cancelled, D’Elia’s standup specials are still available on Netflix. Ironically, the comedian also played the character on the Netflix show You, also showed him preying on underage girls.

You star Penn Badgley spoke to Deadline, addressing D’Elia’s now controversial appearance in the show, and revealed that the producers immediately checked on his 17-year-old co-star Jenna Ortega. “You know, the first thing our producers did was reach out to Jenna, who played Ellie, the girl opposite Chris in those scenes, just to make sure she felt safe,” he said.

D’Elia also guest starred as a child molester on an episode of the Comedy Central show Workaholics, which has been taken down since then.
