Is there really a Ram Setu?
Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu trailer is out, and unsurprisingly, the buzz around the movie has only been piqued since the trailer release. The narrative centers around the historical bridge Ram Setu, and Kumar plays an archaeologist who is on a quest to unlock mysteries surrounding it. Kumar’s inquisitiveness takes him on a journey to unravel the many mysteries that surround Ram Setu. Could this movie be the saving grace for Kumar? In keeping with how Cuttputlli and Raksha Bandhan fared at the BO, the year has been far from lucky as far as his movie releases are concerned.
The movie is all set to release on October 25, 2022, at a time when the entire country would be soaking up the Diwali festivities. The festival of Diwali is also when lord Ram returned to his kingdom after an exile of 14 years, and thus the timing of the movie’s release makes a lot of sense.
Along with Kumar, the cast features Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushrratt Bharuccha, and Satya Dev. The filming of the movie started in Mumbai in 2021, with sequences of the movie being shot across Ooty, Daman, and Diu.
Director Abhishek Sharma has been working on this film since 2007. Kumar has delivered a variety of films this year like Bachchhan Paandey, Cuttputlli, and Raksha Bandhan, and none of them worked at the box office. This is yet another chance for him to prove if his movies are worth waiting and spending money on?
In a statement, he addressed the issue of his films not working at the box office. He said, “Films are not working, it is our fault, it is my fault. I have to make the changes. I have to understand what the audience wants. I want to do my changes. I want to dismantle my way. He said he should rather focus on the kind of films I should do. Nobody else is to be blamed but me.”
