Ruby Rose has announced her departure from the Batwoman series after just a single season. Rose’s announcement comes just a few days after she wrapped up shooting for the show’s first season.
Collider obtained a statement from the 34-year-old actor where she said the decision to exit the series was a “difficult” one. “This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles,” Rose said.
The CW, Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions thanked the Australian actor for “her contributions to the success of our first season and wish her all the best”.
“The studio and network are firmly committed to Batwoman’s second season and long-term future, and we — along with the show’s talented creative team — look forward to sharing its new direction, including the casting of a new lead actress and member of the LGBTQ community, in the coming months,” they added.
Earlier this year, it was announced that the show would renewed for a second season. But with Rose’s exit, the studio is looking for a replacement. While there are a lot of names being considered, Netizens decided to weigh in and suggested casting Stephanie Beatriz as the new Batwoman.
