In a move that is sure to be heartily welcomed by frontline workers in Maharashtra, actor Shah Rukh Khan has provided 25,000 PPE kits in a bid to fight the novel coronavirus.
“Many thanks, Mr Shah Rukh Khan for your kind contribution of 25,000 PPE kits. This will go a long way in supporting our fight against COVID19 & protecting our frontline medical care team @iamsrk @MeerFoundation @CMOMaharashtra,” wrote Minister of Public Health and Family Welfare of Maharashtra, Rajesh Tope, on Twitter and thanked the superstar.
SRK replied to the tweet, saying: “Thank you, sir, for all your help to source the kits. We are all together in this endeavour to protect ourselves and humanity. Glad to be of service. May your family & team be safe and healthy.”
Earlier, we had reported that the actor and his wife, Gauri Khan had decided to give their 4-storey personal office space to be used as a quarantine capacity. This facility would also be equipped with essentials for the quarantined women, children and the elderly.
In India, there have been more than 9000 reported cases of the novel coronavirus and the disease has claimed 324 lives so far.
