OMEGA SPEEDMASTER MOONWATCH

Continuing with our series on the best of timepieces launched in the new year The 2021 version of the iconic watch that graced the space suit wrists of 11 of the Apollo astronauts that walked the moon, comes with the distinction of being the first to be entirely certified as a Master Chronometer, the highest Swiss standard for precision, performance, and magnetic resistance . The new Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861 that powers it, is not affected by the most extreme magnetic fields. Comes in a classic 42mm asymmetrical case, new vintageinspired stepped dial, double bevel caseback, and an integrated, fullybrushed bracelet.

AUDEMARS PIGUET ROYAL OAK DOUBLE BALANCE WHEEL OPENWORKED

For the first time, this watch is offered with a black ceramic case and bracelet, hand-finished with the brand’s alternation of satin-brushing and polishing. The 41mm case provides an elegant setting for the re-designed, blackened openworked dial, and the pink gold-toned double balance wheel mechanism that is visible on both sides of the watch. This patented innovation, released by Audemars Piguet in 2016, ensures better precision and stability. The self-winding movement guarantees a power reserve of 45 hours. The titanium caseback features the engraving: “Royal Oak Double Balancier”, in honour of its complex mechanism.

ROGER DUBUIS EXCALIBUR SKELETON DOUBLE FLYING TOURBILLON

The iconic openworked watch with two flying tourbillons has been given a major facelift. The distinctive star-bridge has been freed up in a manner that it looks to be levitating above the mainspring barrel. The watch has been made lighter by the use of new materials, mirror-polished cobalt chrome for the upper cage of the double flying tourbillon, and titanium (which is twice as light as steel) for the lower cage. As a result, the new DFT Calibre RD108SQ has an enhanced power reserve of 72 hours. The 45mm case comes in a limited edition of eight pieces each in white and pink gold.

JAEGER-LECOULTRE MASTER ULTRA-THIN TOURBILLON MOON

This timepiece combines a moon phase and a tourbillon for the first time for Jaeger-LeCoultre, along with the brand’s signature peripheral ‘jumping’ date display. While the lower half of the dial is dominated by the tourbillon, the upper half features the triple moon phase indicator — displaying the age of the moon as well as its phases in both hemispheres. A deep blue sky scattered with stars provides the background for a polished golden disc. Comes in a 41.5mm x 12.10mm rose gold case. The new self-winding Calibre 983 provides a power reserve of 45 hours.

FREDERIQUE CONSTANT HIGHLIFE PERPETUAL CALENDAR MANUFACTURE

The watch from 1999 makes a comeback, fully refurbished in 18K gold. The redesigned 41mm case features an integrated strap, and houses a decorated blue dial with a globe motif, symbolising the earth. The self-winding FC-775 calibre has a power reserve of 38 hours. Limited to 30 pieces.

LUMINOX F-117 NIGHTHAWK 6441

Named after the famous F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighters that were developed and operated by the US Air Force in late 20th century with the idea of evading enemy radars, this watch was created for the pilots using Luminox’s self-powered illumination system. The watch hands, numerals on the dial, and the bezel, are covered with tritium tubes made using a combination of Super-LumiNova and Luminox Lighting Technology. It guarantees a permanent night time glow for up to 25 years. The dial also features a GMT indication. Comes in a 44mm lightweight CarbonoxTM + case, and is powered by a quartz movement. The bracelet is made from Kevlar.

MONTBLANC SUMMIT LITE

This version of Montblanc’s Summit smartwatch comes in a 43mm case made from recycled aluminium and stainless steel, a 1.19 inches AMOLED display, and runs on Google Wear OS. The best part is the Google Fit app that tracks heart rate, body energy, sleep, stress, and also provides cardio coaching. Other features include 1 GB RAM, 8GB storage, barometer, microphone, GPS, and Google Assistant.

HUBLOT BIG BANG UNICO BERLUTI COLD BROWN

This chronograph with a flyback function is the latest from Hublot’s four-year collaboration with the French men’s fashion house, Berluti. It combines the best of Berluti’s legendary Venezia leather and its patina, with Hublot’s art of fusion of materials. Besides the strap and the case, leather is also encased between two pieces of sapphire glass of the 45mm ceramic case. Thanks to an innovative adhesive and rigidifying resin, leather also covers the re-designed bezel. The MHUB1242 calibre has a 72-hour power reserve.
