You have to say it is one of the biggest co-incidences in India today that three actors with the same surname (who started their careers around the same time), have been ruling Bollywood for so long. As a layman, you would think that there is a lot of competition in between the three because as SRK says, you never win the silver, you only lose the gold.
There have been a fair share of fights between the Khan triumvirate. Everyone knows about the blow up between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Nobody ever thought they’d join hands together, but they did. So much so that SRK even played a cameo in Salman’s Tubelight.
Then, there was an old fight between Aamir and SRK. SRK had mocked Aamir quite often while hosting the Filmfare Awards, while Aamir had once blogged, “Shah Rukh is licking my feet and I am feeding him biscuits every now and then.” Of course, he later clarified that it was just a dog named Shah Rukh.
Even so, both of them have always shown respect for each other as an actor, even though they have never acted in the same film. “I have sat with Shah Rukh many times. He is a very entertaining person to sit with. He is wonderful in telling stories. I love listening to him. I think between him and me, I am more curious because I like to hear him talk. I like the way he narrates his stories. He really brings the moment alive. He is a wonderful storyteller and there is a great fun in listening to him,” Aamir recently said while promoting his upcoming film Secret Superstar.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, SRK exclusively spoke about the relationship between the three of them. “We don’t talk work (the three Khans) at all. In fact, we have never done it. So, our equations are on a very different level. We never sit together, gauge and judge that, ‘accha, meri film nahi chali (oh, my film didn’t do well).’ It’s not like Salman will ever sit with me and say, ‘oh, your film didn’t do very well. What have you done?’,” he said.
“I am not extremely friendly with some [actors] as we don’t know each other personally. But if Aamir, Salman and I specifically sat down and chatted, you would see a very different relationship. So, for instance, Aamir can say, ‘yaar, tune abhi tak Dangal (2016) dekhi nahi (you haven’t watched Dangal till now).’ And I will tell him, ‘I will watch it when I am free.’ So, he will say, ‘You call me up; I will come over.’ In fact, I had called him the other day but he was leaving for a foreign country,” SRK also said.
So it’s clear that, in Bollywood, no fight or friendship is permanent. SRK and Farah Khan patched up, so did Karan Johar and Kajol. It can also be said, that fights might sometimes be created to generate news and be a part of the public consciousness.
