The variety Big B’s fans offer is unmatched. For instance, a micro sculpture artist Sachin Sanghe carved the face of megastar Amitabh Bachchan on a pencil lead in August after eight hours of hard work. A samosa vendor idolises him to such an extent that he went up to his house with snacks and asked Bachchan to touch them once so that he could distribute them as prasad to his fans. Then, we have all heard of the temple dedicated to him in Kolkata where his followers pray to the ornate dark-green chair procured from the sets of the movie, Aks.
In 2011, when Rajinikanth was hospitalised due to respiratory infection resulting in complications in his kidney, this devotee took an overdose of sleeping pills to end his life. Apparently, the fan’s name is Rajniraja Arockiasamy and he wanted to donate his own and attempting suicide seemed to be the only feasible method to him.
Shah Rukh Khan
Even SRK’s female fans will feel insecure of Lucknow’s Vishal Singh. Singh has adorned every corner of his house with Khan’s pictures counting up to nearly 22,000. He has also changed his name to Visharukh Singh and named his son, Aryan and daughter Simran (Kajol’s screen name in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge).
Aditya Roy Kapoor
When Aditya was shooting in Kashmir for Fitoor, he received a letter, written in blood, from a girl from Aligarh, where she expressed her desire to marry him. The effort overwhelmed as well as worried him.
One fan was so bowled over by Shahid Kapoor’s performance in Haider that she scaled Mount Elbrus (highest mountain in Europe, 18,510 feet above sea level) in February to hoist the Haider flag on top. Now that’s some serious competition to SRK and Bhai’s fans.
Now his fans are an exceptional breed. In July, a Pakistani woman crossed the border to get a glimpse of Salman Khan. However, her attempts were foiled when she was arrested at Jalandhar railway station for allegedly travelling without a passport. Two fans took their admiration to another level by opening up a restaurant dedicated to Khan called Bhaijaanz, whose interiors are covered with his posters and the dishes are named after his films and songs.
