India’s most celebrated musician, also known as the Mozart of Madras, turned 50 today.

A R Rahman, who is often credited with exploring newer territories in music, began his illustrious career with Mani Ratnam’s Roja in 1992 and went on to win two Grammy Awards, two Academy Awards, a Bafta, 15 Filmfare Awards and 13 (South) Filmfare Awards in his career spanning nearly three decades.
