Getty Images wants to pay Instagram users big money
The two firms have tied up in a unique way
If ‘documenting stories from underrepresented communities around the world’ is up your street, and Instagram is your medium of choice, you might want to check out the Getty Images/Instagram grant programme at this link. Specifically, this involves shooting 10 to 20 photographs of places and events that usually don’t make it into mainstream media but are nonetheless of importance to the world at large.
Three finalists will be chosen from among the applicants by an independent panel, and they will receive $10,000 each, a mentorship from a Getty staff photographer and the opportunity to show their work at the Photoville exhibition in New York later this year. All entries need to be in by 4th June, and the winners will be announced in September – and yes, the photos need to be square in format.
