YouTube Adds Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez And Taylor Swift To Virtual Graduation Ceremony
Even as the novel coronavirus continues to affect millions of people worldwide and has decimated an already staggering economy, lives have come to a standstill due to global lockdowns which are set in place to battle COVID-19.
Whether its a birthday or a funeral, practically every aspect of our life has been virtualised – and that holds true for graduations.
However, here’s a consolation, if you can call it that – YouTube is set to give star-studded graduation for the Class of 2020 featuring speeches by none other than former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama, as well as appearances by BTS, Lady Gaga, and Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez and Taylor Swift.
The event that is set to kick off on June 6 at 3 pm DT/noon PT will see more than two dozen additional artists, celebrities and influencers participating. According to YouTube, Queen B will be delivering an “inspirational message” to the 2020 graduates.
The musical performances during the multi-hour live stream will also feature performances by Lizzo, Camila Cabello, Chloe x Halle, and Maluma.
The night will be capped off with a grad-night party headlined by BTS, CNCO, Doja Cat, and Megan Thee Stallion.
