Karni Sena often raises objections towards movies, their content and their titles. Previously the sena made a huge deal about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat and asked the makers to change the name of the film. Now, Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj is facing a similar situation as members of the organisation have slammed the makers for naming the film ‘Prithviraj’.

President of the Youth Wing of the Karni Sena, filmmaker Surjeet Singh Rathore, has placed three conditions for the film to not receive any backlash from the sena. He threatened that if Kumar and the producer of the film, Aditya Chopra, do not accept their demand, they will face a situation similar to SLB’s film.

Sharing a few news articles on his Instagram page, Rathore wrote a long message in Hindi. He demanded Akshay Kumar and Aditya Chopra to pay due respect to the last ‘Hindu Samrat’ and use his name with utmost reverence. He also warned that YRF would be liable for all the losses that will transpire in the future if they don’t abide by the suggestion. With this, he put out his three conditions for the makers. Screening of the film before its release, the film be shown to the Rajput society, and the title of Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj to have the full name — ‘Veer Yoddha Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’ – are the three requirements put forward by the organisation.

Talking to Times Of India, Rathore said, “How can they keep the title of the film as just ‘Prithviraj’ when the film is based on the great Prithviraj Chauhan? We want the title to be changed to his full name and give respect to him. If they don’t listen to our advice they will have to face the consequences. What happened to Sanjay Leela Bhansali during ‘Padmaavat’, the makers of this film will have to be prepared for it, too.”

Prithviraj also marks Manushi Chillar’s Bollywood debut. She will be seen essaying the role of Samyukta, Prithviraj Chauhan’s wife, in the film. The film will be directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi.
