Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan beat Johnny Depp and DiCaprio

We have some really shocking news for you

So, your paychecks just came in and you are on that monthly high, now aren’t you? The Forbes magazine’s annual list of the highest paid actors has come out – and the figures are staggering. Robert Downy Jr. tops the list with a whopping 80 million US dollars in earnings in the last financial year, followed by the likes of Jackie Chan (50 million USD), Vin Diesel (47 million USD), Bradley Cooper (41.5 million USD) and funnyman Adam Sandler (41 million USD), making up the top 5. This is Downey Jr.’s third time on the top of the list and by the look of it (and his really juicy profit-sharing deals with Marvel), he is getting used to the top spot.

But here is the shocker – Beating out biggies like Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg and other Hollywood biggies, Amitabh Bachchan is in 7th position with 33.5 million USD followed by Salman Khan with the same amount and Akshay Kumar with 33 million. Can you even calculate the number of zeroes on their paychecks for the last year? We tried and gave up.

In comparison, the annual earnings of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood led by Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker is 30 million. The ‘stark’ difference with what Downey Jr. is earning is evident. Like a Forbes spokesperson says, he is being compensated really well for his Iron Man troubles.

And here is a little factoid: Bollywood’s leading ladies such as Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra earn 1.2 million USD per film. Even if we included endorsement earnings, they are nowhere close to their male counterparts.
