The trailer for the new live-action Pokemon movie, Detective Pikachu dropped this week and it has left people really scared and confused.
You would think that there’s nothing that can go wrong when you turn a childhood classic cartoon into a live-action movie right? Well, not really. Ryan Reynolds has been cast as the voice of Pikachu and its just a big no. I think we’ve gotten so used to the fact that Ryan Reynolds can only be Deadpool, that him playing anything else is just weird, especially a cute little mouse that electrifies you with its cheeks.
This isn’t the first time a popular and loved cartoon is being made into a live-action film. Dragon Ball Z had its very own live-action version released in theaters and we all know how that turned out.
The makers made sure that they made the pokemons as detailed as possible, but instead of looking cute and realistic, they look scary and horrifying. The best example being Mr. Mime who’s been compared to looking like a serial killer.
Have a look at some of the best reactions people had after watching the trailer:
I can’t get used to Detective Pikachu’s Deadpool voice. I kept expecting him to massacre a room full of people, look the camera and go, “Digimon fans.”

Now that it has been several hours, I am ready to make an official statement: Mr Mime in Detective Pikachu is the worst thing to ever happen to me.

This is not Jigglypuff, this is an 80-year-old lady who yells at the caretaker in the nursing home insisting that her glam rock career can still take off pic.twitter.com/NK3N944Pbt

He did it. Whatever crime Pikachu is investigating, it was 10000000000% Mr. Mime https://t.co/QjHlXXDlJq
