After what seemed like retirement from donning the cape and cowl, it is now confirmed that Ben Affleck will return as Batman in the upcoming ‘Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom.’ This is in addition to his rumoured appearance in the Flash movie, starring Ezra Miller.

Coming back to The Lost Kingdom, the James Wan sequel sees Jason Momoa returns as Arthur Curry, as the new king of Atlantis. Starring opposite him would be Amber Heard’s Meera, whose role has been cut down to just 10 minutes, as an outcome of her trial against Johnny Depp

Here’s what the official synopsis of the movie reads, “Aquaman forges an uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally in a bid to save Atlantis and the rest of the planet.”

Coming back to Affleck, the news of his return was shared by Momoa on his Instagram account, with a post that said “REUNITED, bruce and arthur. love u and miss u Ben WB studio tours just explored the backlot alright. busted on set all great things coming AQUAMAN 2 all my aloha j.”

To which, the official DC Comics Instagram replied by saying: “Legends.”

Affleck’s confirmation comes after the news that Henry Cavill will be returning as Superman, in future DC projects. As we mentioned earlier, Affleck is supposed to appear in the upcoming Flash movie, which was supposed to debut in November 2022, but has now been pushed to June 23, 2022. However, we’d like to think the future of Flash is still in limbo considering the concerning allegations which came out against Ezra Miller.

The 49-year-old actor who recently tied the knot with Jennifer Lopez has expressed his displeasure about working with DC. “I had a really nadir experience around Justice League for a lot of different reasons. Not blaming anybody, there’s a lot of things that happened. But really what it was is that I wasn’t happy. I didn’t like being there. I didn’t think it was interesting. And then some really s—ty things, awful things happened. But, that’s when I was like, I’m not going to do that anymore,” he’d said.

Ben Affleck was also supposed to direct his standalone Batman movie, which later went to Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson. Considering that actor seems to be returning to the DC fold, could we see Batfleck prowling the streets of Gotham in his movie? Well, one can hope.
