Here’s How BTS Reacted To Losing The Grammy To Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande
The 63rd Grammy Awards was a special night for Korean boy band, BTS. The band had bagged their first-ever Grammy nomination, and were both happy and nervous to be included in the list. BTS was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for Dynamite, and was competing against Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, J Balvin, Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny, and Tainy, Justin Bieber and Quavo, and Taylor Swift and Bon Iver for the award.
BTS lost the Grammy to Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, who won the trophy for their song, Rain On Me. The band’s fans were disheartened to learn that their favourite band did not win the award, and flooded social media with messages for them. The boys also made sure that they thanked their fans for the support and went live to interact with them. They assured the BTS Army that they will work harder now.
Reacting to Gaga and Grande’s win, Suga said, “Let’s run/work even harder this year!” BTS leader RM said, “Army is the best !!!!” Jungkook also reacted to the loss and said, “Thank you all for being together with us in each and every moment, and… I will be sure to give back to you all of the love and messages of support you’ve given/sent us.”
Jimin also shared a selfie from the Grammy night and said, “Everyone, you’ve worked hard staying all this time to be together with us! Thank you for cheering us on, and it’s thanks to you all that we’ve been able to have this unimaginably special experience. I want to thank you, truly, and I’m happy, ARMY! I love you.”
During the 20-minute live, the team talked about how they were feeling when the winner was about to be announced, and how they took several takes to perfect their performance on the Grammy stage. J-Hope went on to talk about how RM turned superstitious ahead of the ceremony. “Namjoon tried to free stand a water bottle saying ‘if I succeed, we will win’ but he kept failing,” he revealed.
The boy band ended the live by thanking their fans where Jimin said, “We started from nothing, we can make it again with you guys. We should keep knocking on the door.” BTS made history this year despite the loss as they became the first Korean act to have been nominated and performed at the awards show.
