We love multi-starrers, and it’s been a while since we saw a nice ensemble film featuring the biggest Bollywood stars. So when we heard about Kalank (which stars Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt), our excitement levels went skyrocketing.

It’ll be produced by Fox Star Studios, Dharma Productions and Nadiadwala Grandsons Entertainment. And according to Karan Johar, the idea of the film came to him nearly 15 years ago. “Kalank has been an emotional journey for me. It is a gem of an idea that I had nearly 15 years ago and a film that was in a pre-production stage helmed by my father. I am now proud to pass it onto the extremely capable and visionary hands of director Abhishek Varman. Kalank has a beautifully structured story by Shibani Bathija and an exceptionally fluid narrative and screenplay by Abhishek,” he was quoted as saying by The Indian Express

Even Varun Dhawan tweeted out an announcement, and said, “ is a film Karan wanted to direct 15 years ago. Now 15 years later that dream will be realised. Feel honoured that I can be a part of this huge ensemble and Karan’s dream film directed by . happy to do my 3rd film with and thankful for the support.”

We think considering the ensemble cast and the presence of such reputed producers, the film could break all records at the box office (films like Baahubali 2 and Dangal could be left behind) and be an epic entertainer that will be appreciated by the masses and the classes alike.

It’s a little early to form an opinion like that though. We’ve just seen the poster, and the film is yet to be shot. Its director, Abhishek Varman has just made one film before this, which is the Arjun Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer 2 States. That film might have done well at the box office, but it didn’t float our boat.
