Shivaji Jayanti: 5 Actors Who Could Play The Maratha Warrior In His Biopic

Shivaji’s ideologies, his attitude towards life and his bravado are all something we can learn from.

It’s raining biopics in Bollywood, and even though we think that a biopic on Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will face a lot of controversy, it’s a story that needs to be told on a grand scale. Shivaji’s ideologies, his attitude towards life and his bravado are all something we can learn from. In a cinematic context too, this biopic will make for great viewing considering the potential for battle scenes and extraordinary dialogue.

In Bollywood, there are several actors who could play Shivaji with panache.

Ranveer Singh

You saw him pull off the Marathi accent with ease in Bajirao Mastani, and he won’t take too much time to adapt to a role like Shivaji. Also, he is a big actor who can command a big budget movie that is needed to do justice to the story.

Arjun Rampal

He pulled off Daddy like a master, and has the physique as well as those deep menacing eyes that is required to play someone like Shivaji.

Amitabh Bachchan (and Abhishek Bachchan)

While Abhishek Bachchan can play the young Shivaji, Amitabh Bachchan can play the old Shivaji. Both actors have the personality and the voice to pull off a role like this.

John Abraham

He’ll be an unconventional choice, but we can totally imagine john Abraham as a warrior in a costume drama. Also, since he’s not done a similar kind of role before, it’ll be extremely fresh for the viewers as a good performance will ensure that the character’s personality outshines the actor’s personality.

Riteish Deshmukh

Even though, we won’t like to say this, but a lot of people in Maharashtra will feel nice if a Marathi actor plays the role. And we can’t think of anyone better than Riteish Deshmukh, solely because of his killer performance in Lai Bhaari.
