Sometimes, life can serve you a bitter pill but that doesn’t mean you need to swallow it. One way to avoid the anxiety and dread that come hand in hand with terrible times is to binge on TV shows that make you happy.

We’ve selected a list of 10 shows that will do the trick.

Revolving around the lives of six friends in Manhattan, this show isn’t one of the most loved shows ever. Already seen it? You can watch it again, as a thing of beauty is a joy forever.

Hospital situations aren’t supposed to be funny, but this show revolving around doctors features gags and sketches that make it just the perfect remedy for the worst day of your life.

Some consider this to be the greatest show of all time. It is based on the life of Jerry Seinfeld, a stand-up comedian. Another interesting thing about the show is that it is co-created by Jerry Seinfeld himself. He is starring as a fictionalized version of himself.

The show has received widespread critical acclaim and been nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series for five consecutive seasons. It won twice.

Modern Family

Another hilarious show that will literally have you rolling on the floor laughing, Modern Family is based on the lives of Jay Pritchett and his family. One thing that makes the show unique is its mockumentary style format where the characters talk directly to the audience.

Parks and Recreation

A political comedy just like Veep, Parks and Recreation has an ensemble cast with Amy Poehler playing Leslie Knope in the lead role. The show ran for seven seasons between 2009 and 2015, so you know you have plenty to binge on.

If you have a thing for animated television, then this TV show will certainly float your boat. It has BoJack Horseman, a horse who was once a sitcom star playing the lead role.

The Big Bang Theory

The show that made being a geek cool, The Big Bang Theory is about four characters (all geeks) living together in an apartment, with one girl Penny living across the hall. Just an example of what huge geeks they are: Sheldon Cooper, one of the characters earned his PhD at age 16.

Shameless is a british adult comedy that started way back in 2004. It’s just perfect for a bad day as the brand of humour (based on British working class culture) is unlike anything you’ll see on other shows.

Freaks & Geeks

Freaks & Geeks is a show that will take you back to your high school days. It’s about two siblings – Lindsay Weir and Sam Weir and their friends. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled after only 12 episodes were aired so there’s only a limited amount of bad days you can turn around with it.
