Bollywood has gone into a tizzy about Priyanka Chopra’s venture into American TV with ABC’s new FBI drama Quantico. Chopra plays an American FBI trainee in the show who gets broiled into a major terrorist attack. “This is a whole new experience for me and something that I am looking forward to diving into. Quantico has an incredibly talented cast and production team and I’ve had an amazing experience shooting the pilot episode with them. I can’t wait to get back on set to see where the writers lead us,” Chopra told Buzzfeed India. Here’s what we loved about the trailer:
No one hams on about Chopra being Indian. No Indian weddings, Punjabi taxi drivers and Gujarati aunties. The show has a commendable cosmopolitan vibe and Chopra’s character, Alex Parrish, does not stick out like a sore thumb.
Alex Parrish is pure badass. She bumps the ugly with a guy in his car and does not get caught up with soppy romance. Later, when he turns out to be a batch mate and pretends to not know her, she says that they “just had sex six hours ago.” “I thought you wouldn’t want people to know that!” he replies. Sexism lands on its butt.
The show is action-packed and looks like an entertaining cross between Hunger Games and Bones. Parrish is a strong independent woman who is ambitious and cut-throat. Priyanka Chopra has come a long way
An interesting ensemble cast of fresh faces that seem to deliver powerful performances, Quantico is a meaty narrative with interesting twists. The script looks exciting. FBI trainees and terrorist conspiracies? Some cocktails just never go out of style.
We are looking forward to a lot of FBI gadgetry and tech magic. If you are a geek like some of us boys (okay, most of us), this show might be sweet pleasure.
