2018 was truly the year of content-driven cinema – from Manmarziyan to Stree, we saw a host of good films getting appreciated and earning hard cash at the Box Office. Naturally, the feedback for the Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree was so good that the makers have reportedly planned on making a sequel titled Stree 2.

However, a source informed Filmfare that the makers are keen on casting actor Varun Dhawan in the film instead of Rajkummar Rao.

“Varun has met the makers several times and is trying to work things around. However, the makers are in a dilemma as they share a good bond with Rajkummar, the hero of Stree,” the source stated.

The film, Stree was a comic-horror-thriller that made some interesting observations about society and how women are perceived to be. Rao and Kapoor were praised for their respective roles, as well and the film went on to perform well at the theatres.
